Abstract

Electrobaissoptera liui sp. nov., a new species of the snakefly family Bassopteridae, is described and figured from an individual preserved in mid-Cretaceous amber from Tanai, northern Myanmar. Electrobaissoptera liui sp. nov. preserves nearly all of the known characters used to circumscribe the family and genus, and is unique among bassopterids for possessing a complete ma-mp crossvein in the hind wing, thereby dividing cell m1.
