The MAFBI and SBBUVAS Cooperation for an Enviromental Sciences Approach in Pakistan Archaeology

Résumé

Since 2019 The French Archaeological Mission in the Indus Basin in cooperation with Shaheed Benazir Buttho University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences are working together for the introduction of an environmental approach into the common practices for Archaeology in Pakistan. The presentation advocates for an interdiciplinary approach and for the need to include subjects like archaeozoology and archeobotany in the student curricula and in the research perspectives of pakistani researchers. With the vital contribution from specialists from the laboratory AASPE UMR 7209 This collaboration has produced for the fist time in the history of Pakistan the skeleton of an indigenous, "pateri" breed goat. Other skeletons are being produced with the aim to generate the first animal bone collection locally available for research and education.
